Nuclear Stress Test
A nuclear stress test is an imaging test that shows how blood goes to the heart at rest and during exercise. It uses a small amount of radioactive material, called a radio tracer, given by IV. An imaging machine takes pictures of how the tracer moves through the heart arteries. This helps find areas of poor blood flow or damage in the heart.
Stress Test
A stress test shows how well heart works during increasing physical stress. It also may be called a stress exercise test. Exercise makes the heart pump harder and faster. A stress test can show problems with blood flow within the heart, assess for heart rhythm abnormalities, and can also show how physically fit you are.
Echocardiogram
An echocardiogram uses sound waves to create pictures of the heart. This test examines your heart structure and function and shows blood flow through the heart and heart valves. It will help your health care provider to find heart abnormalities and other heart conditions. Other names for this test are: Heart ultrasound or Heart sonogram.
ECG
An electrocardiogram, also known as ECG or EKG, records the electrical signals in the heart. It is done by placing special electrodes on the arms, chest, and legs and measuring the electrical activity of the heart. It's a painless test used to quickly detect heart problems and monitor the health of the heart.
Pulmonary Function Test
Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) are a series of non-invasive breathing tests that tell us how well your lungs are working. They measure how much air your lungs can hold, how quickly you can move air in and out, and how well your lungs put oxygen into your blood. Think of this as a "stress test" for your lungs. While it doesn't involve a treadmill, it does require some physical effort.
Clinical Consultation
This is when you meet a cardiologist or respirologist to sit down and review your medical history and as well as the determinants of your health like your social, work and living environment that can influence you heart health.
